He Has a
Face Like a Trumpet
Today’s tip is in praise of a singing friend
of mine. He has the best “ooh” sound I’ve ever heard from a
singer. How does he do it? He makes what I call “trumpet
face” by bringing his lips as far forward as possible. Grab a
mirror and watch your lips in it. Pucker your lips and bring them
as far forward as you can. Try to get the end of your lips out
past your nose if you can! Make an “ooh” sound and experiment
with the shape of your lips as you watch in the mirror. Make the
aperture of your puckered lips as small as possible and notice the
sound. Now open your lips in a slightly larger rounded shape and
notice how the sound changes. The richest, and most beautiful
sound will come when your lips are the furthest forward in a very
rounded, but relaxed shape. |
