There Is a
Large Copper Pipe
Running Through You
Yes, it sounds odd, but give it a try. Close your eyes and
imagine that there is a large copper pipe running completely through
your body, both above your head and down through the floor below.
This pipe is a great empty resonating chamber, and we are going to take
advantage of it. With your eyes closed, sing something easy that
you know well and send the sound up through the top of the pipe.
Now send the sound down through the bottom of the pipe into the
floor. Now send the sound in BOTH directions as you sing.
The more you work with the physical sensations of this, the easier it
gets. The benefit of singing through this copper pipe and feeling
your voice resonate throughout it is that it helps you use all the
resonance in your body while you sing. This technique can be a
little tricky in the beginning, but mastering it is worth the effort!
