Fly over the notes!

We tend to think of high notes as something to “reach” or that we have to get “up to” with the voice.  But what if it didn’t have to be that way?  How could we think of this differently?  We could think of approaching the note from above and coming down onto it!  Imagine this:  you are singing a phrase that contains a high note.  To arrive at that note, you float DOWN onto it, rather than reach up to it.  Picture the phrase as though you are soaring above it and gently coming down onto it from above.  The more you think of approaching the notes from above, and coming down onto them, the more your high notes get effortless.
